June Health & Wellbeing update

Spotlighting Dr Sahar's expertise in women's health

Many of you already know Dr. Sahar for her compassionate care in family medicine. We’d like to highlight her passion and expertise for women’s health - a field in which she continues to make a meaningful impact.

Dr. Sahar has a particular interest in the challenges faced by young women, including  contraception, family planning, and post-natal support. She also supports women through different stages of life, including hormonal changes and peri-menopause. While some women go through these transitions without difficulty, others may experience symptoms that require care, and Dr. Sahar is available to assess and manage these changes.

We are fortunate to have Dr. Sahar at Greenhithe Medical, and even more so that she lives locally and is part of our community. Women’s health is a specific and important area of care, and we’re pleased to offer this service at our practice. Dr. Sahar is available for appointments on Mondays and Tuesdays. She speaks both English and Arabic, supporting our diverse patient community.

Staff changes

We farewell Denise who has been a receptionist with Greenhithe Medical Centre for more than 10 years. Denise has been a welcoming face for all, greeting and supporting patients and the team at reception. Denise's sense of humour and vibrant energy was uplifting for those walking in. We wish her all the very best.

We welcome Jane to the Greenhithe Medical Centre team. Jane is an experienced medical administrator, and has joined us at the front desk Monday to Wednesday each week. Loraine continues to be on Thursdays and Fridays. Jane is looking forward to meeting you and supporting your health needs.

School holidays are nearly here!

With the school holidays just around the corner, we know many families will be adjusting their routines. Whether you're planning a getaway or enjoying some downtime at home, it's a great time to prioritise health and wellbeing.

If your child is due for a check-up, immunisations, or you’ve been meaning to book an appointment for yourself, now might be the perfect opportunity. Our team is here to help with any health needs over the break. If you are travelling, make sure you have enough of any regular medications before you go. Remember, repeat prescriptions can be ordered through the MyIndici portal.

If you need a consultation with a healthcare professional outside of our regular hours, or if you are out of town, you can book an online appointment through CareHQ here. They’re available every day from 7am to 10pm, including public holidays.

Repeat prescriptions

Please remember to order your repeat prescriptions before they run out. These generally need to be ordered with at least one weeks notice to allow time for review. Make sure to contact us early so you do not run out of your medication while waiting for your next order.

Patient portal

Have you signed up to the Greenhithe Medical Centre patient portal? This will help you access all of your healthcare needs.

Key features of the patient portal include:

  • Book appointments with your GP or nurse

  • Order repeat prescriptions

  • Access your health data such as test results

  • Virtual consultations with your GP or nurse

  • Make online payments for your appointments.

To sign up, you must be an enrolled patient of Greenhithe Medical Centre. If you are already enrolled, get in touch with our reception team on 09 413 8562, or email  reception@greenhithemedicalcentre.health.nz

Read more about the patient portal, here.

Lab results

If you are expecting lab results and don't yet see them in the portal, this is likely because the doctor is still reviewing them. Please be assured we will contact you directly if any results require urgent attention or follow-up. Once reviewed, you will find these results in your MyIndici patient portal.

Talking helps

Not feeling like yourself lately? Talking to someone you trust can help. Whether it’s a friend, whānau member or colleague, opening up can ease stress and help you feel more supported. You don’t need a diagnosis, just a willingness to start the kōrero. Find practical tips to help you begin the conversation here.

Happy June!

As usual, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our reception team on 09 413 8562.

Ngā mihi,

The Greenhithe Medical Centre Team
