Update from Dr Nick Gailer

Thank you for another great year at Greenhithe Medical Centre. It has been my pleasure over the last 30 years to serve our community and deliver health and wellbeing care for the community of Greenhithe and the wider North Shore area.

I wanted you to be the first to know that I am slowly stepping down from my role as owner and general practitioner at Greenhithe Medical Centre, as I have decided to spend more time with my family.

I am delighted, however, to share that Greenhithe Medical Centre has been purchased by ProCare under its Elevate programme. We have belonged to ProCare as our PHO for a long time, and I know some of the team there well. Therefore, I feel confident in leaving the practice in their extremely capable hands.

ProCare takes a Population Health approach to healthcare, providing the framework for general practice and the wider primary care system to focus on targeted and proactive care and support that improves people’s health and wellbeing so I’m pleased that they will continue to take this approach for you, my patients.

You can continue to receive the same excellent level of care that you are used to and can continue to book appointments in the same way you already do. For now, I will still be here, along with Jan, Denise and Loraine, and we will continue to have in-person and virtual appointments available.

Additionally, on a Thursday, we’ll have Dr Paul Johns (MB, ChB, Dip Sports Med, FRNZCGP) joining us to help out. Dr Johns has been a doctor for more than 35 years with his career spanning emergency medicine, sports medicine (including being the New Zealand Team Doctor at four Special Olympic World Games) and general practice. In addition to working at Greenhithe Medical Centre, Dr Johns also works on Great Barrier Island and at Health New Lynn. I’m sure you’ll join me in welcoming him to the practice.

I wish you a happy and healthy holiday season.

Ngā mihi,

Dr Nick Gailer
